Suggestion: Let's All Become Really Over-Invested Patroons Fans This Winter

The logo is a CLOG! What's not to like?

Your humble Albablogger isn't very good at following sports. The idea of sitting alone in my living room for hours watching a bunch of millionaires play a game together thousands of miles away just doesn't do it for me. I DO, however, really enjoy eating a hotdog while hollering at the ref at a Valley Cats game on a nice summer day, which is why I've decided to become Albany's biggest Patroons fan this winter.

Why Should we All Get Excited About the Patroons?

1. We need something to look forward to. Winter in Albany is cold and dark and very, very long, with only the worst holidays to break up the monotony. Instead of trying to get excited about Valentine's Day (honestly, who really likes Valentine's Day?) I suggest that we all put on hideous green and gold outfits, pile into our beautiful Armory building, and holler at the ref (or not: I'm not entirely sure how basketball works).

2. It's cheap as hell. Tickets for the home opener cost fifteen bucks. That's like one cocktail plus tip.

3. Our team is actually good?! We were runners-up for the championship last year! We won MVP and Rookie of the Year! Albany!!! We're number two!!!!!!

4. Rooting for the home team is good for community morale. Honestly, guys, why aren't we already all Patroons fans? People love to ask why we don't have anything fun, or anything good, or anything that's actually in the city and not off in a mall somewhere*. Ladies and gentlefolk, I present to you the Patroons. They're fun, they're a great team, they have a rich history in the town, they're affordable and accessible to everyone, and they're right here in the very heart of Albany. Last year there were rumors that they might not make it to another season because not enough people had heard they were back to show up and support them. Let's get excited about them and make them an Albany institution again!

Here's the January Patroons Schedule

I'll be posting the monthly schedule at the beginning of the month for the rest of the season. Home games are in bold.
